ABOUT ABOUT

CANDIDE – written by Voltaire, Script by Scott Hunter, Directed by Theatre and Dance Program faculty member Ethan Sinnott

The story of Voltaire's Candide, as adapted in two hilarious hours, is about Candide, a very naive young man, who is led through a series of outlandish, side-splitting misadventures that span nine countries in order to be reunited with his childhood love.  Throughout his journey, he encounters shipwrecks and pirates, war, passion, riches beyond the comprehension of mortal man, death by fire, hanging and impalement, inquisitions, earthquakes, volcanoes, revolution, slave traders, brothels, and sheep—lots of sheep.

Performances are November 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, and 18, 2017 at 8:00 pm; and November 11, 12, and 18, 2017 at 2:00 pm  in the Gilbert C. Eastman Studio Theatre located in Elstad Annex 131, Gallaudet University, 800 Florida Avenue NE, Washington, DC 20002 [Metro – RED line – NoMa-Gallaudet].  Free, on-campus parking is available.
